Megan Pobywajlo is an artist, researcher, educator, and arts organizer living and working in Springdale, Arkansas. Megan uses photography, print, countercultural and media histories to highlight the often unremarkable labor required to sustain grassroots movements, collectives, and community space outside of coastal art worlds. Her artwork and publications are in the libraries and permanent collections of the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, Swiss Institute’s Art at Swiss Re, University of Arkansas Fayetteville, University of Missouri Kansas City, University of Kansas Lawrence, and University of Nebraska Lincoln among others.

With a background in photography and collective practice, Megan Pobywajlo’s work draws on the legacies, ideologies, and aesthetic outputs of “on-the-grid” counterculturalists in the Arkansas Ozarks. Through vivid installations and the creation of grassroots community spaces, Megan connects artists, organizers, and workers to each other, while sharing histories and survival strategies that have rarely been preserved, never materialized, or were legislated out of existence.
