You are invited to join Artadia for an intimate studio visit with 2017 San Francisco Awardee Carrie Hott. Hott was born in Fort Collins, Colorado and grew up in the southwestern United States between Arizona, Colorado, and California. She received her BFA in Painting with a minor in Psychology from Arizona State University in 2003, and her MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2007. In addition to working in installation, video, and drawing, she regularly completes related projects that include mixed media presentations, classes, and various collaborative endeavors. She is a past founder of Royal NoneSuch Gallery in Oakland and Ortega y Gasset Projects in Brooklyn. She was chosen as a 2017 Awardee by jurors Dena Beard, Sally Frater, Andrew Kuo, and Rory Padeken.
“For Hott, seemingly disparate ideas are linked through a formal layering of objects and processes, revealing the connective thread that binds her projects to a larger social world,” said round two juror Padeken.
Please join us! Space is limited. RSVP required to Anastasia Kidd at firstname.lastname@example.org. Hott’s studio is in Oakland, San Francisco, and the address will be provided upon RSVP.
