Andrea Higgins was born in 1970 in Kansas City, MO. She received a BA from Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH in 1992 and an MFA from San Francisco Art Institute, San Francisco, CA in 1995.
Her work has been exhibited at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, CA; Hosfelt Gallery, San Francisco, CA; Walter McBean Galleries, San Francisco Art Institute; San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art, CA; Bedford Gallery, Dean Lesher Regional Center for the Arts, Walnut Creek, CA; James Kelly Contemporary, Santa Fe, NM; and Southern Exposure, San Francisco, CA.
Higgins is the recipient of the SECA Award, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (2002); Lannan Foundation Residency, Santa Fe Art Institute (2000); Luce Scholars Program, Henry Luce Foundation (1995); P.O.D. Studio Art Award, Dartmouth College (1992); and the Ellen Battel Stoeckel Fellowship, Yale University (1991).
