Oriane Stender, a native of San Francisco, now lives and works in Brooklyn. Starting with items of personal or cultural relevance — books, photographs, currency — she combines/adds/subtracts/transforms them by writing, drawing, cutting, and stitching, in order to create objects that can be read and experienced through multiple layers and levels. Her work is represented in the collections of de Young Memorial Museum/Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco; Federal Reserve Board, Washington, DC; JP Morgan Chase; Synopsys Inc.; Arkanasas Art Center; Centerbridge Partners, LP, New York; International Collage Center, Milton, PA; and many private collections.
