Artadia, a non-profit grantmaking organization and nationwide community of visual artists, curators, and patrons, is thrilled to announce the 2024 Atlanta Artadia Awardees: Ariel Dannielle, Sergio Suárez, and Aineki Traverso.

The 2024 Atlanta Artadia Awards application was open to visual artists working in any visual media, at any stage in their career, who have been living and working within Barrow, Bartow, Butts, Carroll, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall, Henry, Morgan, Newton, Paulding, Pickens, Rockdale, Spalding, and Walton Counties for a minimum of two years. We received 191 applications, with 65% of the applicants identifying as Arab, Asian, biracial or multiracial, Black, Latinx Native American or Alaskan Native; 58% as women, gender nonconforming, or nonbinary; and 53% as emerging artists.

The Awards decision was reached after an extensive two-tiered jurying process. This year’s finalists for the Awards included Reuben Bloom, Jeremy Bolen, and Quintavius Oliver, selected by Round 1 jurors Lorenzo Fusi, Chief Curator, Currier Museum of Art; janera solomon, Artist, Cultural Worker, Founder & CEO, ARTPOWER; and Monica Obniski, Curator of Decorative Arts and Design, High Museum.

On the first round of jurying, Obniski said, “As a new Atlantan, I was honored to participate in the 2024 Atlanta Artadia Awards panel process, which was a deeply rewarding experience as I was able to see the work of so many talented artists that call Atlanta home. It was difficult to narrow down the group to the six finalists, but they represent a strong range of artistic positions and processes, demonstrating the vitality of artmaking in this vibrant city.”

All six finalists held virtual studio visits with jurors Monica Obniski joined by Lauren Cross, Gail-Oxford Associate Curator of American Decorative Arts, The Huntington.

“It was such an honor to be a part of this important panel to select the next Artadia Awardees in Atlanta. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the artists and their works and am very pleased with the artists selected. Atlanta has such a wonderful arts community and I enjoyed supporting artists at a pivotal time in their careers,” shared Cross.
