Artadia’s Strategic Priorities

The opportunity for artists to overcome divisions in society and unite people from all backgrounds has never been more urgent than it is today. Yet artists have been among the hardest hit and the least supported as the divides within the national landscape widen. As professionals whose livelihoods often depend on their ability to collaborate, exhibit, and perform their art for audiences, artists occupy a precarious position in today’s domestic economy.

Today, Artadia recenters its focus on the dignity and humanity of artists; building responsive models that examine holistically what it means to be a practitioner in a society that both deeply requires their expertise but too often fails to provide the necessary resources and pathways to produce flourishing outcomes.

To deepen this impact and ensure we continue to meet artists’ evolving needs, Artadia completed a comprehensive and consensus-based strategic planning process involving our staff, Board, and community partners. Through collaborative visioning, we’ve developed a five-year roadmap that positions us to meet this pivotal moment in arts philanthropy.

Strategic Guiding Principles

The following guiding principles are deeply tied to our founding vision that innately understood the necessity of recognizing and supporting Artists across the country without restriction and position us for the work we intend to do for the next five years.

  • Institutionalize partnership as a practice
  • Implement a culture of evaluation & analysis
  • Clarify the role of the Board, positioning Board and staff as partners in success
  • Become the most responsive model to support how artists need to live and work NOW by developing strong advocates
Strategic Essential Directives

To put these principles into action, we’ve organized our work around four strategic areas that address the core needs of our organization and the artists we serve:

Programming
Cultivate and nurture partnerships to enhance Artadia’s current work and narrative into a model that is responsive to, and advocates for, how artists need to live and work now.

Public Engagement
Strengthen Artadia’s storytelling to cultivate trust, equip, and inspire our community as advocates, and demonstrate our distinctive contribution to advancing artists and the field.

Philanthropy
Build a sustainable funding model for core programming, through deeper Board collaboration and relationship-driven engagement and philanthropy practices.

Governance & Management
Strengthen and entrust Artadia’s Board and staff to lead with vision and resilience, ensuring the organization evolves to meet the ever-changing cultural and creative challenges of our time.

By strengthening partnerships and deepening our understanding of artists’ needs, we’re building a more sustainable future that keeps artists at the center of everything we do. Our intention is to position Artadia as a role model for how a 21st century arts organization can operate.
