Skin in the Game

Join Artadia in supporting Skin in the Game. Skin in the Game is an exhibition of painting, sculpture, video, installation and performance that explores touch, transmission, and skin—the potential, vulnerability and risk contained therein—as a boundary to protect from danger or as a porous border to receive. The exhibition establishes a dialogue of the erotic, from pleasure and violence, to the taboo and voyeurism, with through lines that touch on game, color, the hunt, sport, religious iconography, performance and competition. Among the artists included are Derrick Adams, Isabelle Albuquerque, Tosh Basco, Carlos Betancourt, Raúl de Nieves, Jen DeNike, Jane Dickson, Amir H. Fallah, Brendan Fernandes, Gonzalo Fuenmayor, Nicholas Galanin X Merritt Johnson, Theaster Gates, Clarity Haynes, Camille Henrot, Jesse Krimes, Yvette Mayorga, Marilyn Minter, Maynard Monrow, Carlos Motta, Paul Pfeiffer, Erin M. Riley, Florencia Rodriguez Giles, Sheena Rose, Moises Salazar, Hank Willis Thomas, Kennedy Yanko and Jwan Yosef.

Skin in the Game’s target audience is both the art world crowd present at EXPO as well as folks in Chicago who don’t feel included in the arts and culture world but are curious to explore it. This is a non-selling museum style exhibition that is free to the public and meant for public engagement. Skin in the Game is partnering with multiple nonprofits and other community-based organizations to bring people to the space for free and engage new audiences that are underserved in the Chicago area. This show is an investment in the civic fabric of the city of Chicago — it will provide a space for people to spend time with and engage with art.
